VMDT® is
a technological breakthrough for law enforcement agencies. VMDT® is a
Video Mobile Data Terminal with all the reporting, communication and
computing functionality, with a built-in digital video recorder. VMDT®
addresses issues such as safety, efficiency, accountability, multitasking,
ease of use, space concerns in the vehicle. By addressing these issues,
VMDT® has focused on the needs of both the officer and the agency in
the management and storage of digital video. Furthermore, this "all
in one" solution was built to endure the roughest and most hostile
environments, while providing unparallel versatility and flexibility.
Features
- "Pre-Event
Recording"
allows an officer to present the whole story. Since events happen at
a blink of an eye, Coban has developed this technology to record events
or incidents that happen prior to activating the recorder. This will
assist the officer in having adequate evidence against any challenge
that may occur.
- Video
and Data Synchronization (called VXSync) allows output from
peripherals such as speed radar readings, light bar status, microphone
initiation to be logged. These logs are indexed when the video is transferred
to the storage, so they can be searched and played back with the video.
This feature assists in giving time frames and a detailed account of
what happened and when.
- Smart
Audio assists and protects the officer. By activating the digital
recorder (manually or by turning on the light bar), the microphone is
automatically initiated, so the officer will always have the audio during
routine traffic stops or dangerous situations.
- Playback
functions are made easy because of the touch screen monitor. The officer
can first select and play a video from the chronological list of events
that occurred on a shift. During the playback, the officer can touch
anywhere on the time line and move the play head to the corresponding
point in the video. This feature makes reviewing video much more efficient
than tape-based systems.
- A Panic
button is built in to the system for officer safety. When an
officer is in distress, by pressing the panic button on the wireless
microphone transmitter, a panic signal will be sent to the dispatch
center through CDPD or similar communication protocol.
- MDT
Functions
are a big plus, especially when an agency is striving to become more
efficient. VMDT® provides the flexibility of communications, report writing,
and data entry. Third party software can be installed and run on this
platform.
Advantages
- Digitally
Recorded Videos are Superior In Quality. (MPEG1,
MPEG2 or MPEG4, streaming MPEG4 capability)
- Ease
of Use is one of the primary concerns when VMDT® was designed.
Thanks to the 10.4" touch screen, Coban was able to create an intuitive
and highly user-friendly interface with minimal training required.
- Maintenance
free. There is no recording heads to clean or tapes to be stored
or duplicated. The videos will always be there retaining their original
quality.
- Extended
functionality can be integrated, such as GPS tracking, finger
print scanning, ticket and report writing, etc.
