COBAN's Video Storage provides flexible and scalable solutions to customers from small to very large, multi-precinct departments. Generally speaking, there are two types of storage: primary storage and extended storage.
Primary Storage Systems
Primary storage holds the "online" videos that are either accessed more often or that have just recently been uploaded. These videos are accessible from the network (SAN, DAS, iSCSI platforms are supported). Primary storage is usually the fastest possible media. Based on each department's policy, COBAN will recommend a disk storage system that meets the department's storage requirements and budget, while maintaining flexibility for future growth.
Extended Storage Systems
Extended storage holds videos for extended periods of time, usually months or even years past the "online" requirement. Depending on a department's needs, extended storage can be an LTO digital tape library, SAN, or DVDs.
COBAN's storage solution allows a department to choose one or more extended storage solutions (as well as hardware brand) and put them to work together. The physical tape library, SAN, and DVD solutions can work with each other in an automated, efficient way to fulfill the department's storage requirements. COBAN's storage solution is truly complete and scalable; it can grow seamlessly with the department's needs. It provides the highest level of video storage and availability.
